TD1 Radio was established on 1st December 2008 as an internet-only station with the aim of providing more listening choice in the Borders. With local radio and TV services being cut back, we felt it was time to give something back to the Borders by establishing a community led and operated radio station.
All our contributors are volunteers and do not get paid for the work they do. The station operates as a non-profit making body, ensuring that any monies raised are ploughed back into it to keep it on the air. If you’d like to make a donation, however big or small, please click on the Donate link from the main menu.
In February 2012 we applied to Ofcom for a full-time 5 year Community Radio Licence. One year later our application was successful and we were awarded the licence, which means that instead of just being able to listen to us on-line, you’ll also be able to hear us on any normal FM radio, so whether you’re in the car, kitchen, bathroom or bedroom you can take TD1 Radio with you. Our FM community radio service was officially switched on at 6am on Monday, 30th March 2015 by Station Manager, David Henderson. We broadcast on 106.5 FM in and around the Galashiels area at a maximum e.r.p. of 50 watts mixed polarisation from our studio at Galashiels Golf Club.
TD1 Radio is the name used by Borders Community Radio & Media Limited to operate the station. We are a private company, limited by guarantee registered in Scotland. Our company number is SC417419.
