A 49-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an incident at Galashiels Health Centre yesterday. John McCarry, appeared on petition from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, facing a charge of breach of the peace. The charge relates to a disturbance yesterday afternoon when about 30 staff and patients had to be evacuated.

The building had to be closed and was surrounded by members of the emergency services until the incident passed off peacefully at 17:30. Mr McCarry, from Galashiels, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
